Growing an Institutional Funding Portfolio – EmpowHer Institute’s Success Story

EmpowHer

Edry and Associates has been helping EmpowHer Institute’s girls to dream big and reach higher. With a dropout rate for girls of nearly 50% in the Los Angeles school system, EmpowHer Institute’s mission is to mentor middle and high school girls. They deliver both in-class and after-school curriculum centered on building a girl’s confidence, curiosity, self-worth, and learning skills. Their innovative educational approach is based on SEL: Social and Emotional Learning. The girls acquire tools to find success and carve out a future of possibilities, while the organization has seen a four-fold increase in its revenue from area foundations, corporations and businesses. Rallying Broad Support Through E-Appeals, Facebook

Retrun To FreedomOnline Fundraising works best in urgent situations. Return to Freedom Wild Horse Preservation and Sanctuary in Lompoc, California had such an emergency – a sudden drop in their well water needed for nearly 400 wild mustangs. While serving as their Interim Development Director, Aria Edry drove an online campaign that netted more than $65,000 in a week’s time. Return to Freedom could then afford to buy truckloads of water to weather the crisis and plan for solutions in the face of California’s ongoing severe drought. Return to Freedom is a leading national voice for protecting and preserving the increasingly threatened wild horse herds on the American western range lands. ELSA Inc. stands for Experience.Learning.Support with Animals. A startup based in the rural Monte Nido neighborhood of Calabasas, founded by equestrian and PATH certified Susan Lettween Carr, ELSA is small but mighty in how it gives renewed life to children, teens and adults who are on the autism spectrum and have other special needs. Working closely with Edry and Associates, especially with Principal Consultant Aria Edry and Senior Associate Jane Marsh, ELSA has grown through diverse and systematic strategies: Collaborations with key agencies like LAUSD’s Miller Career and Transition Center; partnerships with Paul Mitchell Schools Fun(d)raising campaigns, William Shatner’s Hollywood Charity Horse Show; targeted appeals for structured funds; ongoing social media presence; community relationships with local Chamber of Commerce and other civic clubs; strictly followed programmatic and evaluative protocols; formal donor cultivation program; full board engagement and a plan for further board development. ELSA has now reached the point in its live cycle where they are considering a permanent ranch facility. Contribute to their newly established Gatekeeper Fund by visiting www.elsainc.org.
